WILD DEVON CAMPING 'camping for the adventurous spirit'
Practicalities

Practicalities and set up

This is camping for the adventurous spirit!

Outside, a fire pit is set up with an iron bar and kettle for those early morning brews. A galvanised tank near the fire heats the water for the bush shower at the site. This safari-type arrangement allows a bucket of water to be pulled overhead with a simple tap for a warm shower under the stars (privacy given from a wooden modesty screen). There is a basic modern flushing loo within the site. A camp kitchen with

barbeque, storage cupboards and washing up facilities is set up in a 12 x 12 ft marquee, which offers further living space if the weather should be inclement. Alternatively you could bring your own camping stove. Drinking water from the farmhouse will be provided but water for washing can be drawn from a stand pipe at the camp fed by a header tank filled with a bucket from water in the stream. High quality bedding, linen and mattresses are provided to ensure a comfortable nights sleep. Guests should bring their own towels. A basic wood store is provided to get you started. Additional wood can be purchased from the farm. There is no electricity on the site so solar charged batteries provide power for a small kitchen light and additional lanterns are provided, some of which will be of the wind-up type, but do bring your own personal torches and spare batteries.
